In order to clarify the intentions of the Italian Strategic Fund (FSI) in relation to its interest for an investment in Ansaldo Energia, FSI and a group of industrial investors announce that they have signed today a memorandum of understanding for a potential bid over a significant minority stake in Ansaldo Energia
The group consists of Gruppo Energia Brescia (coordinated by the Camozzi Group), Acciaierie Venete Group and the entrepreneur Davide Usberti. Such group of entrepreneurs is active in a mechanical engineering, metals and gas and has, in aggregate, a turnover of more than € 3.5 billion and over 11,000 employees.
FSI and the industrial investors intend to formalize a joint non-binding offer and assess with Finmeccanica the conditions to reach a binding agreement in the short term.
The interest in Ansaldo Energia is based on the belief that the company is a leader in its field, with a strong technology and international footprint, led by a highly-regarded management team. Ansaldo Energia is considered as a successful independent player in its sector with strong growth prospects and can become a consolidator of other value-added businesses at national and international level. Subject to the successful completion of the transaction, FSI and the industrial investors are willing to consider further investments in Ansaldo Energia to support its growth.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed by FSI and the industrial investors is subject to a number of conditions including the satisfactory outcome of the due diligence.
